The edges on double knitting can be done many ways. The one I like is listed below.
- When you reach the last two stitches in a row.
- Normally the next stitch will be a purl stitch.
- Take the two strans of yarn to the back of the needles.
- Slip the second to that last stitch as a purl stitch. (this stitch would usually be done as a knit stitch.)
- Take only the one strand of yarn to the front of the work.
- Slip this stitch off the needle as a purl stitch. (This would normally be a purl stitch.)
- Turn your work.
- Knit the first stitch of this row through the front of the stitch.
- Pull the yarn between the first and second stitch to the front.
- Purl the next stitch. (Second stitch in the row.)
- Continue the row per the chart until the last two stitches.
- Repeat steps 2 through 11.
