In yoga and dance legs are a very important in every move. This small tatted piece is showing the legs of a person practicing balance. One foot is placed against the calf of the other leg. Never ever on the knee joint. When I created this piece it made me feel like I could balance without falling over. This is the beginning of my series on various yoga poses. Tatting does not lend itself to straight lines so the person stands with bend legs. One could also look at this and see a small dancing flower with legs.
Joy loves to find something positive in everything she does. She always has a smile on her face. To her the glass is always half full. When I look at her I feel she is laughing with us.
Joy was tatted freehand one evening. I like to create images of figures and faces in the variuos mediums. This was created with size 10 crochet thread.
Judy is a quite colorful person. She wears she beauty on all the colors and patterns on her skin. The brightness and color of Judy brings a smile to my face. I wish I had the nerve to dress as colorful and outstanding as Judy. She would be hard to miss in a crowd.
I enjoyed creating this little person. It was challenging to design the doll with no pattern or seams. It was knitted from the toes up to the head. As I went along I added the stuffing. I am very happy with my first try at a doll. Her portions may not be right. Since my legs are shorter and out of portion to the rest of my body, I feel like I can relate to her. The play of all the color and patterns, made me decide not to make any clothes for her. I did not want to hide the uniqueness of her body behind clothes. The doll can be consider either a male or a female my viewer. Dress the doll in whatever clothes you see in your minds eye or leave her as she is. Enjoy creating your own story for the doll.
Hello, my name is Clownie. I have always wanted to join the circus as a clown. My eyes light up with stars and doggies every time I think about the circus. My nose is a bright red bulb just like the circus clowns. Unlike some clowns I have seen, my mouth is always in a smile. I would would never stop smiling if I could just be a clown. My hair is braided in shades of orange and pink. Very cheerful for a clown. I would be one of the happiest Giddies if I could just be a clown in the circus.
As a Child I remember going to the circus every fall. Usually it was indoors, but once it was outside under tents. There was saw dust on the ground. The seats inside the tent were wooden benches. Just like one sees in the movies.
The acts were the same whether indoors or under the tent. There were ladies on bareback horses. Standing up and doing acrobatics. Elephants that could stand on balls. But what I liked best were the clowns. Some would come out and spray water on each other (it was really confetti). Then a small car would come to the middle of the stage and clowns would start coming out of the car. They never seemed to stop coming. I know I would never be able to get that many clowns into one small car. I enjoyed the clowns the most.
My small giddy of about 4" by 6" with the fun eyes and hair brings back those memories to me.
Say hello to Jeany. She has a great desire to be liked by everyone. It can be seen in her eyes. Her heart shaped eyes reflect her love of the world. It also shows how much she wants to be loved back by the world. Her safety pin of a mouth represents how she has been forced to keep quiet throughout her life. Both in her personal life and professional life. She has chosen a professional path where few women were represented.
Jeany remembers the high school counselor told her that women should be seen but not heard. In one class she was the only female. The teacher told her to watch the males and just sit there. That physics was only for males not females. She complained to her school counselor. Her school counselor told her she should just accept this as this is the way women were treated. Jeany had no other recourse at this time. Her mother would not support her.
